Compass Help Just for You!
This page is a work in progress. I am in the process of building a resource for you and your questions. I have built a visual PDF on how to set up your students step by step. Please follow these numbered steps.
Listed below are helpful links to written instructions. Also, upon release of video instructions from Compass, I will post them to this list as well. Check back often to see the new additions. Next Project: High School Electives
My next project is to set up the new High School elective courses with Decision Points. When they are ready for use, I'll put them under "My District". End Of Year:
Barb Cruse completes the End of Year procedure for our district in Compass in August. Please be patient. This procedure will advance all students to the next grade level, unassign all of last year's assignments, clear our grade books, and allow us to be ready for the fall. Thank you Barb! |
Master Courses:
John Meyers and I worked hard to get everyone a master set of courses from Kindergarten all through the high school subjects so that you can copy them to your Courses. These masters have all the decision points already set and the subject divided into Semester A & B parts. They are complete and they are available under "My District" in the Courses & Assignments tab. We did this to help save you time at the beginning of each semester. Also, when you call or email me for help, I have a similar starting point to guide you through to the solutions. Do you have to use them?...nope! Our only objective by making these accessible is to ease your frustration and to save you time rather than making your own. Learning Paths: Common Core Learning Path courses are ready for you to use under "My School" under the Courses & Assignments tab. Click the " +" to add them to your "My Courses". These courses are for Language and Math courses 1-12 grades. Use these courses for determining placement, credit recovery, or varification of topics learned. |
Visual PDF HelpAll courses including elementary grades are done for you under the DISTRICT COURSE tab. Just click on the + sign to add to MY COURSE.
Transfering a student to another teacher. The easiest way to accomplish this is at semester time. But until then, bring the student into your class and you can still print a progress report for their grade %. The teacher who had the student before needs to forward the completion report to you. Completion Reports and Grade Books are linked only to the teachers who initiate or assign the assignment. Then at semester the new teacher can assign Sem B work. That way they can now see them in their Grade Book and run Completion Reports.
Sem B work is not showing in Grade BookCompass program was not designed to move students from one teacher to another after assignments have been started. Let's face it...in our program it happens quite often. Don't worry, Just create/build a new course with just SEM B work in it and it should clear all problems. You and your student will see work in the grade books once again.
